meet the herd

D went in for a competition at college to design a Beltie for the Royal Highland Show. The show is mostly virtual this year, but there are a few physical things happening, and Dumfries & Galloway is the featured region.

The Belties (all 12 of them) represent 12 places across our region. The winning designers were D and his fellow student Eva (pronounced Ever) who is in the pink cardigan. Eva's designs can be seen in the tartans, and D's in the rainbow and hearts. Ironically, the rainbow Beltie's new home is going to be at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary :-). The idea is that people will take a "Selfie with a Beltie".

We spent two hours at the Crichton Cricket Ground this afternoon, getting to know the herd. There were some photography students from the college taking pics, and a crew from Border TV, as well as photographer Colin Hattersley. It's always interesting to watch Colin at work as he arranges people and works with the light.

Tonight I'm out again as the Samba Sisters are back at Lincluden (outdoors and only for an hour). I think we might have an actual gig next month...
