Prickly visitor

It was a gorgeous day so we had a lovely al fresco picnic lunch in the garden.  We had a great catch up with Ian’s brother and sister in law. We haven’t had a get together for what seems like an age - probably around 18 months.

They brought all sorts of yummy goodies for us to enjoy. And I had attempted to whip some fruit into a peacock display (extra) but mum said it looked like a dead duck.  She may have a point! I will have to practice!

Whist we were chatting we could hear strange crackling and snuffling noises from the hedge. Then we spotted a hedgehog going to and fro. He’d go one way to collect a mouth full of leaves and grass and then make his way back through the mint patch in the border.  He seemed to make endless trips and we didn’t want to scare him off by inspecting too closely - although he didn’t seem phased by us at all. He has been a regular visitor but usually we see him at night and he used to live on the opposite side of the garden. We had a look later and he has totally trashed the mint patch and has built a big new home right in the middle of it. He made for great entertainment as we chatted away.

Later I watched the footie and enjoyed the Wales game but then the Denmark match was so upsetting.  It looks like Eriksen is doing ok now but seeing him so unwell so that he had to be resuscitated before they could move him to hospital was just awful. The medics were amazing.   Fingers crossed that all goes well for him. I couldn’t believe it when the players had to finish the game a few hours later.  They did so well to get back at it (seemingly encouraged by Eriksen) as you could see how distressed they were by events.  It was no surprise that they endured a shock loss - I bet the result was the last thing on their minds tonight and they are just glad that their mate is recovering.
