Loch Morlich.

When I first opened the blinds there was a beautiful blue sky, the first extra is the bark of a silver birch directly outside the lodge in the early sunshine.

The day then clouded over but we were off to walk around Loch Morlich at the base of the Cairngorms. It is a beautiful place with natural pine forests and fantastic micro landscapes. At the loch it was windy and chilly but we both kept our legs out!

We stopped for a snack under a tree beside the shore but quickly moved on, we'd attracted a cloud of midges!

The main photo is the loch surface with the Cairngorms in the distance and the other extra is through the water.

Lunch was in a café rather than the picnic we'd planned then a drive through some beautiful countryside before an ice cream in Grantown on Spey then back to the lodge to cook dinner where we saw a red squirrel digging up his nuts, boom boom!
