Wonderful day

Bob and I had a very special day today...special because we got to spend it with our oldest and youngest grandsons. We all went to a district high school track meet about 70 miles from here where a huge number of schools were competing.

My husband pole vaulted through high school and college. Number 1 grandson, who has been on leave for two weeks and will soon return to his Army base, ran cross country and track in middle school and high school. Our youngest grandson (#5) is running track and cross country this year for his middle school. Although I am just an observer, I guess you could say we are a track and field family. So that and the warm sunny weather made it a fun day for us. After supper together, we dropped them off at their homes and picked up Gulliver who was being watched by our youngest daughter. His enthusiastic welcome was a happy ending to a wonderful day.

For you track and field fans...the winning height in the girls' pole vault competition, pictured here, was 10 feet, nine inches. I chose this picture to post because it includes runners along with the pole vaulter.
