There came both wind and rain …

A wild day ended with lovely late sunshine on Stornoway port, so you have above the evening view from our castle apartment along with three key points from our day on the west coast of Lewis: the amazing standing stones at Callanish, the huge broch at Dun Charlabhaigh, and - unexpected and delightful - a restored pair of so-called Viking conical buildings at South Shawbost housing a mill and a kiln, set in a hollow through which ran a small burn and in which broom grew golden.

The rain blew incessantly in our faces; our waterproofs were dripping - but this was a good day, a thought-provoking day and ended in sunshine!
