GEUM

I got up early as I was expecting a delivery - 2 big bags of cat litter.  They arrived on schedule.

Then I waited for a phone call. I had a phone appointment booked with the vascular consultant from The Freeman Hospital  to discuss the results of the scans on my legs which took place in April.  The appointment time was given as 2.40pm - but you were advised to be available for up to 2 hrs before and 2 hrs after the appointment time.  So I was ready at 12.40pm and I waited for the call ... and waited ... and waited.  Did a few household chores and some more sorting out and by around 5pm I had more or less given up on hearing from the hospital.

However the phone rang around 5.15pm.  ( Good job I hadn't gone out as they were ringing on the landline.)  I spoke to the consultant and she said that there were significant varicose veins in both legs - left leg is much worse though.  So she intends treating the worst veins by blocking them off to reduce the pressure on the areas around my ankles where there is pain and soreness - and where I'm likely to develop leg ulcers.  The procedure will be done under local anaesthetic and I will be able to come straight home afterwards.   As she considers my case to be urgent it won't be long before I'm called in for my left leg to be done and then she will do the right one 6 weeks later.  I'm glad that finally something is going to be done and hopefully sometime in the future I will be pain free.

As I didn't go anywhere today I didn't get the chance to do a Wide Wednesday shot so I just took the easy option and got a photo of one of the Geum flowers in the back garden.  They have just appeared in the last few days.

Weather today was warm and sunny .  Seems as though the North East might avoid the thunderstorms which are forecast for some areas down South..
