Project 365 day 168: this year's shapes

My daughter's lovely PA has sewed some more face masks for us. J's two PAs have supported us in various ways during the months when they were not coming into the house, including shopping, collecting prescription medication, regular online chats and occasional distanced doorstep visits. Now they are back supporting her at home, and it's been lovely to see her happily engaged with activities with them. Today she was collaging painted paper to design a book cover, last week there was watercolour in the garden, and tomorrow she has an online workshop to start a journaling project.

To date, we have only occasionally needed face coverings, mainly for a handful of health and vaccination appointments, but now that we have started to go out a little more we will need a few more available to wear and wash. They are all made with fabric pieces from my large stash of leftovers from things I or my mum sewed long ago, including a seventies brown and beige flowery dress I wore in my teens, a spotty shirt of my mum's which I think predated my birth, and bright pink flowery shorts I made for J with fabric she chose, one of the few things I ever got round to sewing for her. Sewing is one of the activities which was crowded out by the combination of being parent to a disabled child and teaching full-time; I keep making plans to get back to more dressmaking and use up some of my fabric stash, but I have not yet managed to progress beyond mending and patching.
