The Woodland Garden (Tuesday 15th June 2021)

Fox-and-cubs (Pilosella aurantiaca) is a wildflower in the Asteraceae daisy family that I deliberately introduced into the Woodland Garden about three years ago and is now successfully spreading thanks to its seeds dispersing in the wind. Their orange-red colours are almost invisible to bees, but because they reflect ultraviolet light they are still conspicuous to butterflies, wasps, bees and flies.

I can enter this for Miranda 1008's Wildflower Week because she sensibly allows entries during a full week up to a clear deadline at the end of Saturday, so I have pleasure in so doing on a day of my choice, with thanks to Miranda for hosting.

Although the irises planted in pots have now totally decayed, another different kind that are planted in the ground between the pond and the side path have just come out (in Extras).
