Good and bad day (Day 2235)

I was awake stupidly early, and after taking Sigyn for a wander, I headed to town and got the shopping done. Home for a coffee then my beautiful wife and I went across to Stromness and got out a really great ride on George and Jeepers. Our route had to change on the way back to the field, as we noticed lots of police and coastguard activity at the shore. The reason soon became clear as a plume of smoke appeared accompanied by a loud bang. Old wartime ordnance often appears and is taken to the beach to be blown up. George and Jeeps were unconcerned by the loud bang.
Home for lunch, then out to Brodgar to walk Sigyn. As we walked along the lochside, the day turned bad. Sigyn spotted a pair of swans (complete with cygnets) and with no warning dived into the loch and chased the swans. In the nine years I have had her she has never really been a fan of swimming. She normally doesn't do much more than paddle about. Today, she swam after the swans around 200 metres from the shore and followed them as they kept just out of her range. She totally ignored us and we were both convinced she would drown. HV tried swimming in to get Sigyn, but thought better of it and returned to shore. After 20 minutes or so, the swans got far enough away that Sigyn realised she wouldn't catch them and she finally returned to the shore. It took her a couple of minutes to swim back. The whole episode was witnessed by a very well known local wildlife photographer who regularly post pictures of the swans on social media. I was utterly furious with Sigyn, but incredibly relieved that she didn't drown (or harm the swans). Perhaps the loss of Talisker has meant she wants to push boundaries, but her behaviour today was totally out of character and without warning. It was a horrible experience which I have no wish to repeat.
Back home, HV got in the shower to warm up while I fed the reprobate.
We headed off to Stromness again a bit later and I re-arranged electric fences while HV murdered weeds.
Perhaps I should wrap Sigyn in electric fencing...
