Another past concert programme & ticket memento from my photo book.


16 years ago today; U2 at Hampden Park.  I had previously seen them just once before, in July 1987 on their Joshua Tree tour – ticket & programme from that also on the same page here. They had been good, but not great, in 1987; I remember reading at the time that for their European dates the band basically commuted every day by plane from home in Dublin, and I thought that they were basically phoning in their performance. That put me off seeing them when they next toured, with their extravagant ZOO TV shows. The rave reviews for that tour seemed to indicate that I got that wrong! So it was 2005 before I got around to seeing them again, and they were so good that it was a no-brainer to go back again in 2009, and twice in 2015 [night 1 ; night 2]. Those 2015 concerts are two of the best I’ve ever seen in The Hydro.
