Among the Hummingbirds

It was heading into dusk, and I went out into the yard to move the hummingbird feeder up onto the deck for the night. I was standing by the feeder with my camera for a few minutes, hoping to nab a shot or two, when both of our little birds showed up.

They zipped and zoomed around, sitting on the trellises, feeding at the feeder. The one on the left is a male. The right one is a female. They made those little happy sounds they make, acting completely unaware that I was there, and the chirps and trills reminded me of the laughter of children. . . .

Oh, the supreme happiness of hanging out among the hummingbirds!

Here is a song for two hummingbirds: Bruce Springsteen and crew, with Two Hearts.
