Life after Burradoo, NSW

Lockdown with four hours notice

We've been expecting it but we were still surprised at the short notice. At 2pm today Gladys Berejiklian, the Premier of NSW, and Dr Kerry Chant, the Chief Medical Officer, announced that lockdown would start at 6pm for Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Wollongong. That's a very large area. NSW has an excellent track and trace system and clearly what they have found in the last 24 hours has worried them greatly.

We live a little outside the lockdown area but I fear it will be only a matter of time before positive cases are found in the Southern Highlands. Many people take the day trip down to our area every weekend. They like the crisp air, the shops and cafes and the scenery. It is possible that some of our visitors will have, unwittingly, brought the virus down with them this weekend. We will have to wait and see. In the meantime we really feel for all the people in lockdown, especially our family of course.
