Lilly pilly

These lilly pilly berries are amazing. The Aboriginal people refer to them as medicine berries. They are rich in vitamin C and can ward off colds and flu. They are full of essential oils, anti oxidants and promote collagen production, so good for the skin. One can make jam, jelly and syrup from lilly pilly berries.

This Australian native tree, with its dense habit and dark green foliage, grows to about 3-4metres. Our council has chosen it as a street tree. Birds and bats love them. I can honestly say I've never eaten them in any form. First time for everything. Watch this space.

Thanks for hosting Pinkhairedlady. Stay well all.
