Dalarna Sunset

The longest drive so far in the camper van, and it went well. We have travelled down to Dalarna to visit Björn and Anna-Lena.
As we set off this morning there was a warning on the radio about the traffic. This is one of the top travelling days in Sweden and the roads would be really crowded. It would be especially bad on the roads to Dalarna, where we were headed, which is a sort of Midsummer capital of Sweden. As this image on my flickr shows it wasn’t like that for traffic heading SOUTH to Dalarna.  We had a smooth journey and arrived at Björn and Anna-Lena’s in good time for me to take part in the planned activities.
The first one was the men’s sauna afternoon, in which I met several of the local men and drank beer and schnapps, ate delicious snacks and put the world to rights, while sitting naked in the sauna, or just outside the sauna in the relax room! The next activity was preparing the Midsummer pole, though to be honest it was mostly the women fixing that. Then it was home for good food, wine, beer, and chat with our hosts.
Björn and I cycled down to the lake to view the sunset, as blipped. It gets darker at night down here, 300 km south of our home. However, it still isn’t exactly dark because this picture was taken at 23:20.
Things worked well with the camper van as we travelled. It’s nice having your own cafe with you! We have a shady flat spot in the garden to park, with electricity nearby - perfect!
