Midsummer Eve

The official midsummer holiday, as against the solstice.
In my picture it seems to be a guy’s thing, putting together the midsummer pole.
Tradition is very important in this part of the world. Every part of the midsummer pole has a symbolic meaning, and everyone, and every village, does a slightly different pole. Once the pole is put up it stays there for the rest of the year.
We had been invited to this family gathering because we were staying with Anna-Lena and it was one of her twin brothers who does this every year. It was really interesting and fun to get a look in, and take part in the celebration.
