Leek flower head

Everyone on the allotment is up in arms; we have blight and we are pulling up our tomatoes and some people their potatoes. We have one tomato left out of our original lot however l managed to buy some more plants from the nursery, our potatoes seem fine at this stage but we have dug up two rows which were ready anyhow. The disease is airborne and particularly prone in damp humid weather such as we are experiencing this summer. There are no chemical protections available to stop this disease. The dreadful famine in Ireland in 1845 was the result of potato blight.

The leak flower is on our neighbours allotment, he leaves a few leeks to go to seed which he then collects for next years harvest - we are not such purists.

Will not be commenting much over the next few days as on holiday and my charger port on my tablet is giving me a few probs.
