Handle With Care

I may have been worrying needlessly yesterday. The electrician came round, as promised, and has not only taken off the sockets and made the wires safe, so the holes can be plastered, but he has also ordered up the new sockets we want and slotted us into his diary to come and fit them once the order is received at his supplier. Even better, he has given us a credit for some unused sockets we had left over from the original job, eighteen months ago. They were supposed to be fitted after the new wardrobe was built, but that is only happening now and we have changed our minds as to what style of sockets we now want in the bedroom. Fortunately, he has another client who wants ones just like our spare ones, so he will happily take them off us.
And then the icing on the cake - the joiner phoned at the end of the day asking if he could drop off the unit he has built for the living room. He did, and he’ll be back in the morning to fit it! And with the sockets having being removed, he can do the plastering at any time.
We had to call at the carpet supplier though. We’d totally forgotten what colour carpet we had ordered (it was nearly three years ago!!) and needed to borrow the sample again as the decorators need us to choose paint colours as soon as possible. Fortunately, he not only remembered us but was also able to confirm he could still supply what we had ordered, although the price may have gone up, which wasn’t exactly a shock, given the delay. So carpet fitting is now booked for the beginning of October.
The dream of a nice new interior by Christmas (originally Christmas 2018!!) is suddenly starting to look as if it might become a reality at last.
