A sad day for Roger

We watched what may well have been Roger Federer’s last match at Wimbledon. Hubert Hurkacz played brilliantly and won in straight sets. But surely no one would have wanted Roger to lose his last set on Centre Court 6 - 0.

Trying to find an image for the blip, I remembered that we were walking – somewhere – and saw the famous ‘RF’ monogram high on the wall of some imposing building. We photographed it because we were intrigued about why it was there. What was the connection with Roger? But now we couldn’t remember where it was.

It took some googling, but we tracked it down. It’s the Balmoral Hotel in Princes Street, Edinburgh, which we photographed while we were staying in Edinburgh in 2019. And the connection with Roger? Absolutely none. That isn’t his monogram, it belongs to the Rocco Forte group of luxury hotels, which owns the Balmoral. I expect everyone except me knows that.

Anyway, Roger’s monogram is much more elegant.
