More rain

The rainy season seems to have arrived. We had a few wet days, then nothing, however, from last Wednesday things have changed and we have had rain during the day and at night. Last night it started raining as we arrived at the restaurant and it poured down. The lighting is bad but I hope that you can see the water pouring in from between the roofs. One young child, about 5 years old, found it very amusing to stand under the pouring water, she ended up having to wear her dad's shirt as she got so wet. The guy in the background is the restaurant owner who was bringing in supplies for the kitchen. We think he brought the ingredients for our dishes as we were served about five minutes after his arrival, we had been waiting for about half an hour, which is unusual.

Bangkok is being locked down from Monday. The announcement was made on Thursday, consequently there was a mass exodus on Friday. We have been told that road blocks will be in place to prevent people from entering ChiangMai without having to quarantine. We still have very few cases here and we want it to stay that way. Another lock down here would be disastrous for the few remaining businesses. It's very sad seeing hotels and restaurants close down, but we equally don't want people bringing covid here, it's a Catch 22 situation. We need the vaccination program to start, but politics are getting in the way, and I'm not getting involved with that topic.

I hope that you are staying safe and well.
