Seeing Beyond Looking

A SteamTrain up to the Brienzer Rothorn

We sat in an open carriage and were pushed up the mountain side by a little puffing steam engine. The views were gorgeous! It took a bit more than an hour to get to the top! The air felt so different. It even made me feel a bit out of breath when walking up the hill to the restaurant.

We had lunch at the top. My daughter climbed up to the highest point and I remained lower down taking photographs.

The Brienzer Rothorn is a mountain of the Emmental Alps, in Switzerland. With an elevation of 2,350 metres above sea level, the Brienzer Rothorn is the highest summit of the range. It's situated in the canton of Bern.

We saw cows in their summer pastures and even a few patches of leftover snow.

Enlarge the main photo to see the cows behind and to the right of the chalets and on the lower left!
