Duke of Wellington

Today’s pub is the Duke of Wellington. This is probably the pub I have used most over the years. Like the pub yesterday this has a quite traditional appearance inside, lots of beams and variable floor levels. The door (which seems not to be in use following Covid) exits on to a narrow pavement.

According to something I read recently it dates from 1745 as a pub. It would not have been called the Duke of Wellington then as he had not been created yet. This is the other pub, which like yesterday’s, might be the oldest pub in the village.

It rained overnight and although the rain has stopped it feels very humid today.
