Watching the Wheels

About a fortnight ago Mrs C encountered a dithery old driver trying to get out of the underground car park at Marks and Spencer. In spite of there being plenty of room on the ramp for two cars to pass, the car just sat in the middle of the road, the driver seemingly paralysed with fear, and refused to move in either direction. Which meant at least half a dozen cars had to reverse back up the ramp on to the road just so this one individual could drive out of the car park. Unfortunately, the net result of all the manoeuvring was a scraped wheel - most annoying because it was the only mark on an otherwise pristine vehicle.
Considered booking it in to the dealers bodyshop but, on my way out last week, I spotted a mobile car body repair van working on a neighbour’s car. I hadn’t got time to stop so I phoned Mrs C and suggested she take a walk up the road and see if the chap could do anything with her wheel. He could, and he duly turned up this morning to do the repair. Fortunately, the promised rain did not materialise so there was no need erect any sort of awning, thus helping matters considerably. Having been in that line of business myself, twenty odd years ago, I knew how annoying it is to have the client watching every move you make so we went back inside until he had finished.
And what a great job it was - impossible to see where the wheel had been scraped. The only giveaway was that her car now has one very shiny wheel and three somewhat more grubby ones!
Sadly - and as I suspected - nothing could be done with the marks on my own wheels as they are diamond cut rather than painted. It looks like there could be an expensive visit to the bodyshop, after all.
