Foxglove field

This was the most amazing sight on our cycle ride today: a mass of foxgloves of poppy field proportions. My photo doesn't really do it justice. From within the field, we would have had an even better view of them.

Today we cycled from Innerleithen to Biggar. We've covered this ground before - in the opposite direction on 21st September 2019, although this time it wasn't quite so hard because the distance was only 32 miles. We were also very lucky to have the company of our friend Bec for 14 miles. Mr hazelh, who was riding a little ahead of us, said that it was like having Radio 4 on in the background as he listened to us discuss social history and archaeology along the way. After Bec left us, we stopped for lunch at Broughton. Here Mr hazelh tried the local ale, while I opted for a half pint of cider. They forgot lost our soup order until I reminded them that we were hungry cyclists.

We are now installed at Bella and David's wonderful house just outside Biggar. Here we drink Champagne, play Catan, and (largely) ignore a certain football match. The score is Bella 2, hazelhs 0 (in Catan).

Exercise today: cycling (32 miles).
