Carmichael House ruin

Our most strenuous activity today was a walk through the woods to the ruins of Carmichael House, and the family mausoleum within its grounds. It’s quite a spooky place, even on a beautiful summer’s day. Bella admitted that she would never dare to visit it on her own, especially not in the dark.

Also today we played Catan three times: before lunch; before dinner; and after dinner. We all won a game each, making Bella the overall series champion with her three wins to one apiece for me and Mr hazelh.

Another fun activity of the day was working our way through Bella’s mother’s old photograph albums and enjoying the family stories that were prompted by the pictures.
