Common Enchantments

Turks Cap Lily

Wild growing along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Jerry and I left this morning from the mountain house and were going to go  get pancakes for breakfast at the supposedly best place in Cherokee, North Carolina to get pancakes.  It must have been good as people were lined up out the door, sitting on the benches outside and leaning on cars.   So we did not get to eat there.

We continued on up the mountain toward Maggie Valley where I knew there were  other local breakfast places.  But on the other side of Cherokee we found another pancake house so we stopped.   They had a breakfast buffet with bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, french toast, grits, sausage gravy, biscuits and yes, pancakes!   Cheap and good!   Great coffee also.

As I drove to get on the main road to get home I decided to cut off a few miles by going on a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway.   These orange Turks Cap lilies were growing all along the road.  I finally stopped at an overlook that had a few growing at the parking area so that I did not have to take a driveby photo out the window while stopped in the middle of the road!     The view from the overlook is in the extras.  Lots of low clouds hanging out high up.

Back home in the heat after a short time in the cooler mountains.
