The Happiest Place On Earth

On This Day In History
1955: Disneyland opens

Quote Of The Day
"Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."
(Walt Disney)

Bonus Quote Of The Day
Dr. John Hammond: When they opened Disneyland in 1956 (sic), nothing worked.
Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but, John, if the Pirates Of The Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists!
(Dr. John Hammond and Dr. Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park )

OK, it's not Sleeping Beauty's castle, but it's still beautiful; with the Moon, if you look closely.

I went to the Ayashii: Decadent and Grotesque Images of Beauty in Modern Japanese Art exhibition at the Osaka Museum of History today. Very interesting. The museum is right across the road from Osaka Castle so I spent a pleasant couple of hours strolling around the grounds and reading my book. Two old men, at different times, came to practice their English with me and one of them made me an origami parrot as a gift. How sweet!

Osaka Castle is a happy place too (nowadays.)
