Stuff and Nonsense

Small White #9

Phew what a scorcher!

It's been way way too hot for us today. We had a BBQ for lunch but the patio umbrella only covered 4 of the seats with shade, so I had to keep getting up and walking around it was so hot. As soon as we had finished lunch we went inside to cool down and we had the fan out for the first time this year!

It's been a good day for sport  with the British Grand Prix(an exciting finish), the finale of the TDF (Hard luck Cav), Cricket 20/20 and the British Open Golf. The closer it gets, the more excited I am getting for the Olympics, but I can't help feeling that it might all be an anti-climax with the total lack of atmosphere and spectators. But I'll still watch it :)

I did a bit of a garden safari this evening to find a blip and apart from this small white came across some nice insects - shield bug, spiders, potato mirid, hoverflies, bees and tiny flies.

Today's Big butterfly count yielded 7 butterflies - 2 large white, 2 small white, a small tortoiseshell and 2 Red Admiral. Later in the day I saw a comma, so that's probably all the species we normally get in the garden at this time of year which is quite satisfying.
