Flowers for a Friend

Taught my classes today, did a bunch of work foe the botanical garden and the went to see a dear friend of mine. I cut her a bunch of flowers from my garden before I went to see her. We sat on her porch with iced teas and caught up. She’s a breast cancer survivor and has been dealing with some unsettling health issues lately. Today she had a PET scan which showed tumors. The diagnosis is either lung cancer, metasticized breast cancer or lymphoma. I cried for her and the unfairness of it all.
