Life in Sunny Dubai

Dubai Tour

(21/7/21)
I'm going to attempt some mega back-blipping/catching up here on Blipfoto.

After last night's late vacuuming, I didn't have to wake as early for the cleaner. Phew! We were well ready for our guests when they arrived for coffee. They got the grand tour of the flat before it was time to head out and show them some sites.

We drove South to the Palm Jumeirah. I couldn't believe the sight of not just one, but TWO enormous passenger ships! I'd love to know what they were doing there at the Marina as we have a dedicated cruise ship terminal in Port Rashid.

We had a late lunch at Skye and Walker, and then G & I came back home briefly to pack a little suitcase. We had booked a room for a friend who wanted to stay in Dubai for just one night, but his wife tested positive for COVID, so his plans changed. The booking couldn't be cancelled so we decided to check out for ourselves, the hotel that we've booked several SA Officers in since May.

We had a drink at the Sol Sky Bar and then figured, Margaret and Jeff had to have a trip on the Creek, so we got dropped to the jetty in a golf cart and took a short trip to the Northside. Once there, we were informed by an RTA staff member that we had enough time to do another (longer) trip to the Old Souk (my extra) and be back to catch the last boat, so we did just that.

What a good thing to know. It cost exactly the same and the feeling of the wind blowing as we moved over the water was just perfect. It was such a humid night, but no one complained. We had a beautiful, clear night and our guests were so thrilled they did the trip.

Back to the hotel, it was nearly 11 pm by now, and it was a case of jumping in the shower and getting enough sleep. Our room is very quirky. I can't wait to see it in the morning to get some pictures.
