Peekaboo

The title refers to the extra rather than the main picture. When I went to Johnston Gardens today I was rather surprised to see mother moorhen back on her nest. This is her third stint on the nest this year. I can understand she can be very proud of a very substantial looking nest, but I am surprised she is getting so much use of it this year.

I saw a couple of moorhens paddling around nearby and I wonder it these are two of the brood I saw a month or so ago when I was last here.

Very little colour in the gardens now other than various shades of green, and some rust colour trees. The flowers in the lower part of the main picture were the only flowers I saw in the park today.

Another thing we have not seen today is the sun. Quite cool as well with a high temperature of around 16º.
