Sally Mair - Loving life

Fire light

I'm not often around at sunset, our house faces north/ south so we don't really have a view to the west except from the kitchen. Tonight though I drove my sister back to where she was staying and drove back home towards this. As I came across the top of the New Town and looked down and across towards Fife, the colours were more neutral and liked like a 1970's Colin Baxter image, sort of pale and moody. I'm sure some of you will remember.
We've had a lovely day today. I went out this morning and bought a pizza mountain, we were expecting nine for dinner in the garden although in the event one was possibly pinged so stayed away. Clarification is needed. Still they're enjoying an unexpected night off.
Back home to pick up Colin after the shopping and we went to pick up my sister from near Easter Road. Colin dropped us in Stockbridge and we had a charity shop trawl including a coffee in Soderberg. I bought a couple of small things including a very pretty blue glass art deco style necklace.
After we got home Ali came over and we spent the afternoon doing very little in the garden apart from eating ice lollies! Kathryn and the girls arrived around 5pm. They'd spent almost all day at the zoo with one of Eilidh's friends and her parents. The new giraffes were a particular hit along with the baby pigmy hippo.
Joyce's friend arrived soon after and the pizza marathon began. Strawberries from Craigie's, Fisher and Donaldson meringues and ice cream were the dessert. By the time we finished eating it was after 8pm so time for the little ones to go home to bed, full and happy. We stayed a little longer in the garden before the temperature drew a close to things.
So good to see my sister again, 11 months since we last saw her.
Keep safe and well everybody. It's so hard to keep to the rules when the circle widens. Town tonight was very quiet and almost all those I saw when driving through at around 9pm, were under 30.
