Aftermath

I went into Fabrezan for some shopping today. Roads between there and Fontcouverte are still closed except for vehicles that have a good reason to be there, and the firefighters still have their HQ in the village hall, but there are fewer of them now. Walking up a hill on the outskirts of Fabrezan I was able to get a view across the plain to the slopes of Alaric, ruined now. I'm glad the firefighters stopped it reaching our side of the mountain; the helicopter in this photo is soaking the vegetation to stop it catching fire.

This photo is a good example of how it's quite tough to get vines to catch fire. Extra: spot the fire engine; they are still monitoring, and will be for some days yet I think. It's been a pleasant 27C with a light breeze, which is a relief.
