Going to Seed

The extreme heat has tested a few of the flowering plants in the garden - as well as the gardener! -  what was in full bloom ten days ago is now running to seed.   Cooler weather ahead and some rain will slow things down hopefully.   Above is Muscari tenuiflorum, a tassel flowered relative of the Grape Hyacinth, which I pictured in flower here in June.   A week ago there was still colour in the tassels but no longer.   The seeds will ripen in a few weeks but can be seen here with the pods backlit.

Jamie and Katie had a great adventure today, out to watch the sunrise.   They left here at 440am, Katie swapping her mobility scooter for Jamie's old wheelchair e-trike and Jamie using his e-bike attachment on his wheelchair.   Almost twelve miles and almost four hours later they popped in here before heading off to Kings Cafe at Wharf station for breakfast.   Brilliant!    A sunrise extra pic.

Meg and I met up with C and the other Meg for a long dog walk circumnavigating half of Tywyn through lanes and fields before returning through the town.   It's lovely to have company on a walk for a change and the dogs get on well.   A bit of work in the garden, laundry, work and housework have filled the rest of the day.   Now to tidy up properly before Clara's visit which starts tomorrow.
