Gently down the stream

Holy water

This very strange little relic faces out onto Southgate Street from the grounds of St Thomas' church.  It is clearly a medieval relic of some kind, with a water spout (not working) set into the back and those very worn steps leading up to it.  St Thomas' itself is now apartments of what I image are a rather odd variety as no new windows were created with it's change of use and all the stained glass remains in the existing ones.  As far as I can tell!

I would love it to be a holy well, but I'm sure Freespiral will say it's not ;))

Our visitors arrived this afternoon so I'm back-blipping.

Many thanks to Marlieske for continueing to host DerelictSunday..
