Flower Friday?

Okay, it's not a flower but each is the result of a flower.

We decided this morning to pick the rest of the gooseberries as the weather forecast was for rain this afternoon and for tomorrow but, once again, apart from a few mizzly drops around midday, it has remained dry. We had been waiting until the fruit had fully matured under the protection of the netting, to get the best out of the crop and it was worth the wait, as I have.5.5 kilos to add to the two already picked.

The (slightly exaggerated) comparison between the early and late picking is reflected in the two rows of fruit: who would prefer the smaller, sour berries when they could have the plump, sweet ones by waiting a few weeks? I know someone who will be happy to sample the latter.
