Bird of Paradise, Zimbabwe

I have Blipped Elephants, Lions, Giraffes, the magnificent Victoria Falls, and other photos from Zimbabwe. However, it is not all about such grandeur. There is great beauty here too. Although we were told this is not the best time of year to see the many plant and flower species that bloom here, there was still a great variety on display wherever we walked.

One of the most common plants currently in bloom is the Bird of Paradise. I snapped this one this morning, walking back to our hotel. It summarises in a way the diverse, colourful beauty we have found here in Zimbabwe, growing free and flourishing.

It is nearing the end of our short holiday in Zimbabwe. We read that back home in Scotland heavy snow is expected; we in contrast have another 24 hours of sun and blue skies.

I think I'll head off now for a Malawi Shandy, before a final stroll to say goodbye to the Victoria Falls.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on my Blips from here. Tomorrow we start our lengthy journey for home...armed so far with over 700 photographs.
