Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Now, now!

It was a bit drizzly today - good for the garden. JR went to the gym, as usual. I watched the rugby sevens final. Well done Kiwis!

When Archie went out with Elizabeth, we set off into town (by bus) for lunch. We took a sudden fancy for a pizza. For the last several years, PizzaExpress have been giving away a bottle of Prosecco on punters’ birthday months. So during July and August we’d be popping in quite regularly, as we helped Christine with her birthday bottle as well. I don’t think the company has quite so much spare money to splash about this year, but they did offer a free pizza. We also had their rather delicious ‘dolcetti’ - a coffee with a small serving of dessert (in our case, chocolate brownie).

It was still raining when we came out, but the bus stop was right there. I was rushing home because in the morning I had, in a weak moment, signed up for NOW TV’s Lions/SA rugby coverage. £9.99 for 24 hours, which was worth it. Though the game was scrappy and fractious and now there will be a third test decider.

Archie and Elizabeth had a wet walk, though it turned into a sunny evening. But a bit of dampness doesn’t put them off. He got muddy, of course, but he always come home clean. Thanks, Elizabeth!

Watched the final of Scottish House of the Year. All were really beautiful homes, many of them with black or very dark rooms and walls. Not sure I’d like to live in them, but apparently it’s very very ‘NOW’…
