AOG - Caterpillar Climbing

Truly atrocious conditions today at the Alternative Olympic Games for the final of the caterpillar climbing competition with some huge raindrops making it difficult to keep a firm hold even with 16 legs. Team GB's Catherine Caterpillar probably had a bit of an advantage given the prevailing weather she trains under in the UK and she managed the fastest time, albeit by a narrow margin of only 3.15 minutes.

How thrilling to see Max Whitlock retain his Olympic pommel horse title and Charlotte Worthington win gold in the women's BMX freestyle.

Day 503 / Day 14 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
Daily cases continue to fall. With 3m 18-30 year olds still unvaccinated, some companies are offering incentives for young people to get a jab such as a 'free ride credit' to a vaccination centre or a free slice of pizza after getting the jab. From today, employers with staff still on furlough will contribute 20% to their salaries. In a paper on the 'long term evolution' of coronavirus, SAGE says it could evolve and produce 'much less severe disease' in older people and also that there is a 'realistic possibility' that  a variant emerges which kills 1 in 3 infected people - interesting but really to me this just says that variants could go in any direction. The FT has reported that Pfizer and Moderna have raised the price of their vaccines supplied to the EU - pure greed.
