Small Copper #11

So, the Olympics have finished for the day and I didn't feel the need for a nap so we went for a walk around Pickering's Pasture in search of butterflies. At first, all we saw were whites, lots of them, and the odd meadow brown that weren't stopping. But after we'd visited the hide and discovered that there wasn't any water in the pool, we came upon a nice patch of wildflowers where there were some more meadow browns, a couple of common blues and this lovely small copper butterfly. It is only the second one I've seen this year, the other being in Norfolk way back at the start of May. It didn't hang around for long, but I managed to get a few shots, despite the wind.
It was nice to get out and about again and a lovely end to the afternoon.

In Olympic news....I woke up to zero medals won by Team GB overnight, mainly because the sailing was cancelled due to lack of wind and the boxers were having a day off. But that was eventually rectified with two medals in Equestrian - a gold for the team in eventing and a silver for Tom McEwen in the individual eventing. There was a also a surprise Silver for Emily Campbell in the weightlifting.
The cycling has started and we qualified for both Team Pursuit Medal Rounds, but it will be tough to get a medal I think.

Number of GB Medals Today = 1G, 2S
Cumulative Medals = 11G, 12S, 12B (still holding firm in 6th place on the medal table).
