Windmill 'De Windvang', Goedereede

This is the first time I visited there, just over six years ago --

'Goedereede' still sounds like 'GOO-duh-rey-duh'.  Blipper KarinHK has since commented that the name most likely comes from 'a good place to moor or anchor ships'.  As you might correctly guess, there's a lot of water nearby, including the North Sea itself, and one can only imagine how busy it must have been centuries ago before the storm surge barriers were installed.

As you might observe, even in that previous shot, I couldn't get the entire height of the vanes into the picture.  The road is narrow where it is located.  The gates to the little garden were shut, and so was the gate to the little animal farm next to it... but there was a narrow opening between the gatepost on the left and the hedge of the neighbouring house, and of course I could squeeze through.  In the previous shot, the windmill was facing the road to one side, but that was not the case today.  A small pity, but not a problem.

Before Goedereede, I'd already passed by Sommelsdijk, and could have shot the windmill there and been done with it, but it was not the ideal angle, with the vanes 'rammed' against the little supermarket.  I have also shot it in the past, so that will be a second trip another time.

Back home, housework and back to the Games.  Before I left, we'd already won yet another gold, in the men's indoor cycling.  Apparently, our four men were already the favourites, having won various awards the past several years, but the more of a favourite you are the higher the pressure, so their performance and win were not a mere formality.  Loads of work there, and they're not done yet because there are more indoor cycling numbers to finish.

At the moment, I'm living in, and appreciating, the here and now.  I'm wary of 'happiness' because it sometimes behaves like a fickle friend, but I'm not depressed either.  Forward is the only way to go, feet on the ground and eyes on the road.  There are things that need to get done.

Again, thank you very much for dropping by Sint Annaland yesterday!  I hope you still don't mind travelling a little bit with me in this beautiful country.
