Selfie and poetry

In the old part of Kalmar, the main city on the mainland, there is a garden, founded in 1874 by Hermina von Krusenstierna, a strong woman in Kalmar at the time. At the time it was a self sufficient farm and she testamented it to the city when she died and it was then transformed into a garden "for the city dwellers to have access to, with buildings and all". It has been preserved as a time-capsule since then and is now used as a public garden, concert venue and a café.

Eva, the woman I'm performing the poetry/music program with, had arranged a poetry reading in the garden, together with a friend. They read their own poetry for about forty minutes or so and thereafter it was an "open stage" for those who was interested in reading their own poetry. Six people had enrolled to read and the whole poetry reading lasted a total of an hour and a half. I was surprised by the quality and that so many was interested in reading their own poetry. Hopefully these two women can organise some indoor stage and maybe do readings once a month or so, there seems to be a need for this kind of thing. There was an audience of about fifty people, all very happy about the arrangement.

I did take a few pictures from the reading but they turned out no good, so you will have to make do with a selfie of a decoration in the garden, looking a bit like the top of a flagpole.
