Rediscovery

Back at the beginning of June, I Blipped a photo of a replica Roman distance slab that was being installed in Falkirk town centre. It's one of quite a few being installed across central Scotland as part of the Rediscovering the Antonine Wall project. (I think I've come across about four or five of them now.)

Since that last visit, the landscaping around the distance stone has been completed and the surrounding security fence removed, so I took advantage of a trip into Falkirk this afternoon to have a closer look. I was impressed.

The artists and sculptors have chosen to feature elements of the contemporary native, rather than
Roman, culture in the centrepiece of the stone. A nice touch.
