Diary of an Edinburgher

Rain

JR did not go to the gym this morning, as she had her birthday month check up at the surgery. And she got top marks! I think the staff must really enjoy seeing a really healthy retired person for a change.

I popped along to Uncle A’s flat, as my cousin was spending the day there, sorting out paperwork and generally organising things. And between us, we solved a wee ongoing problem in the kitchen.

Uncle A is responding well to treatment, and is having physiotherapy, though still not eating enough. I brought some things to the hospital for him, but I did not actually visit. There are loads of hoops to leap through in order to enter the wards, Covid tests, donning PPE gear etc.

I unfortunately timed my journey to coincide with a horrendous thunderstorm - the roads were like rivers in minutes. So the council haven’t sorted out the drains since the last flooding (last month).

JR popped into town in the morning, and didn’t need her coat, but when she took Archie out in the afternoon, she did, and they both got wet.

Well done all those medal winners today. Especially the wee Scottish lassie, Laura Muir, who has just missed out on medals several times, but did a PB today in the 1500 metres to win a silver. But really, all their personal stories are so inspiring. Even JR has been taking a bit of an interest.

More rain tomorrow, but we’ve got a lunch invitation. And, of course, it’s the third test in SA, which cannot be missed.
