Cereal Crops Require Light!

Harvesting grain crops is well underway. Combines and Tractors work 24 hours a day, although I imagine the drivers do not.

I was up and about and was listening to the sound of an alarm on the still air when the peaceful sound was broken as a convoy of tractors and trailers drove past at 5:15 a.m. all festooned with their flashing amber lights and throaty engines.

An alarm is unusual hereabouts and I think it came from the farm about half a mile to the east. Probably a deer nudged a parked car.

Today’s Blipfoto shows the field on the North Side of The Policies. The trees provide an effective shade which has slowed down the crop. Also there is an area which has been flattened by wind and rain.

The mystery is there has been little wind and little rain.

The farmer would be better leaving the margin to rewild. Will he?

On another entirely unrelated subject, I have resolved a mystery at Hill of Tarvit which I call "The Sundial Paradox".

We are at Hill of Tarvit tomorrow and tomorrow’s Blipfoto should give a summary and cause of this particular paradox.
