Levitating?

This probably doesn't look like a typical voice lesson, but it's a common site at TVI where I'm doing my voice teacher apprenticeship. We make use of yoga mats, physio balls, walls, massage tables - whatever it takes to get the job done.

We are almost 2/3 of the way through our training, and now we're getting into the meat and potatoes (or tofu and kale for you vegans) of the program. We've scheduled a series of free mini-lessons with a variety of students at the Institute - guinea pigs, if you will - and under the guidance of our Director, we apprentices are giving the lessons. It's a gift for the students and for us too, as nothing beats hands-on learning!

Here Peter is working with Cindy on her breathing -- the system we use for singing is breath-based, and a lot of attention is paid to the breath, the belly and the ribs.

Moe Moe is observing from his cave under the piano.

I'm making progress with the Schubert piece and feel ready to perform at the concert on Sunday. Now I'm getting excited! That's a good sign - it sure beats dread.
