After the flames

A quite pleasant swim this morning, as the weather was so cool and overcast that even the Germans didn't turn up. Later I went for a short drive to find a blip ... this is between Fabrezan and Fontcouverte, seen from afar in this blip. It's remarkable how the vines flourish when all around them has burnt to a crisp. It still smells of charcoal and ash two weeks later.

In extras, the annual wisteria-pruning shot. Apparently it's best to do it in August. S trimmed it so radically that three trips in the car were required to get rid of the trimmings. We are now having a well-earned beer and pan con tomate.

Edit: one year ago was the highlight of last summer. Village entertainment this year has been almost non-existent. Allegedly there's a show tonight, but we are not sure it's going to be up to scratch. We shall see ...
