Strutting along

Day one of my leave, and a gentle start. Enough time with my muesli that I was able to finish the crossword puzzle. Mainly pottering today, although I did go for a jog mid-morning. Timed it just right for seeing Tuturiwhatu (New Zealand Dotterels), white-faced herons, oystercatchers, Kotare (kingfishers), and Poaka (pied stilts). A couple of common mynas were on the exposed mudflats as well. And a Kawau paka (Little shag) was drying its wings on the rocky reef..

I liked the particular posture of this Poaka.
