The Peacock Branch

I popped out for a blip and was suprised to find about 20-30 butterflies on the buddleia, the majority were Peacocks, but also a number of Red Admirals and the occasional Large White. This branch had 5 Peacocks on at one point, the Red Admirals had their own branch! A day of housework today, nice to get a load of washing done and dried outside, just the ironing tonight.

Day 512 / Day 23 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The 4th days of falls in cases, the numbers are so variable. There were 146 deaths, the highest since 12th March. 75% of adults are now fully vaccinated, a great achievement. The Health Secretary confirmed that the flu jab will be offered to over 50s at the same time as a coronavirus booster. I heard today that the concern over flu this Winter is partly due to the lack of flu around due to restrictions, meaning the jab design might not be right. Australia's 'zero Covid' policy is costing A$1bn a week (£530m). Prof Hunter from the UEA says 'it is absolutely inevitable that we are going to get escape variants coming in' (escaping vaccine protection) and that people will be infected every 4 to 5 years - what a cheery thought!  For the 2nd year teacher assessed grades for A levels have been used, resulting in significant grade inflation with 44.8% getting A or A* against 25.5% pre pandemic (it was 9% when I sat mine).
