Blueprint (and a quiz!)

Started the day by catching up with some blip journals.

There is something about being privy to the real-life stories of others and thinking back to my own blip a couple of days ago, realising that we’re all making it up as we go along.

Oh, of course we’ll have things we want to build to and they will need a certain amount of planning, but they’ll also require a sprinkling of a countless number of small, on-the-spot decisions to be made to get there too. More often than not, external forces may impact upon “the plan” which will again necessitate adjustments, quick decisions and yes, improvisation.

Maybe that’s the really good stuff though? Maybe that’s where we are truly alive? When we’re living on instinct alone, letting the chips fall where they may and reacting accordingly? On the flip side, would living by instinct all the time soon become mundane though? In a cruel twist of irony would the pre-meditated repetition of improvisation become too prescriptive and tiring?

Or is true contentment to be found in that space between preparation and spontaneity?

In the spirit of spontaneity: Pop Quiz, hotshot! Today I changed the children’s beds and had to put each of one The Youngest’s soft toys back on her bed after. How many soft toys does she have on her bed?

I'll think of a suitable prize for the winner!
