Kenilworth Castle

Back to bright warm sunshine this morning at Kenilworth Castle.  This is the Keep on the right and Leicester's building on the left.  Both slighted after the civil war, but the gatehouse (behind me) was left intact as the parliamentarians used it themselves.

Leicester's building was completed around 1573 as a place for Elizabeth 1st to stay on her Royal Progresses.  She did stay, for 19 days, but declined to marry Robert Dudley, so perhaps spending the equivalent of £14M building it was not his best manoeuvre?

Rather as the owners of Kirby Hall found (here in an earlier blip) hosting a Royal Progress was a risky/expensive business.

Another three shot AEB/HDR panorama merged in Lightroom. Although this time I have merged the three HDRs separately first and then put the results together to make the panorama.  I think that has resulted in fewer strange edge artefacts.

Better in Large although the bright sunlight has created some seriously deep shadows.
